Nat was born and educated in northern Ohio. He received his BA with a major in Accounting at Kent State University. Nat received his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron, while working full time as a financial analyst with the Timken Company.
Nat has been a member of the South Carolina
Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee. He is a past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law. He has been heavily involved with caring for the Lowcountry seniors for more than 25 years.
In 1990, Nat and his wife, Jan, leased Sandpiper Convalescent Center, a 176 bed skilled nursing facility, working closely with residents, their families, many government agencies, and other nursing facilities throughout the state. In 1995, Nat and his team designed, managed and leased Sandpiper Courtyard, an assisted living facility with 65 residents. They also leased Sandpiper Village an independent retirement facility with 133 apartments.
Since the inception in 2008 of the Accredited Agent program by the Veterans Administration, Nat has been an accredited attorney, allowing him to assist veterans and their spouses with claims for VA veterans benefits.
Nat is member of the French Huguenot Church of Charleston, serving as the Vice Chairman of the Body of Elders.
